Another talented jeweler shares her thoughts about a career and calling as a jewelry artist with The Jewelry Report.  Dorota Toczke of Jewellery Bijou creates intricate, beautiful designs by hand, selling online.

What are your favorite materials to work with?

Due to the time involved in making each handcrafted piece, I prefer to use only precious metals with pearls and natural gemstones. I use only materials that allow for distinctive, elegant designs while keeping my prices affordable. My favourite gemstones are aquamarine, citrine and quartz.

I love to source for vintage brooches, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings   from all around the world – be it from thrift stalls, flea markets, online or even my mom’s box of jewellery. I would     complement it with Swarovski crystalls, semi-precious stones, Chinese adornments and 14k/18k gold elements and whip them into art-to-wear pieces!
