For Mother’s Day this year, I was fortunate enough to buy a gift that gave back multiple times. Not only were these lovely earrings for my mother (and she happens to love them, thankfully; you never know with my mom’s taste!), they also gave back to a local woman who sold them for her cause, as well as the cause itself, the American Cancer Society. She made a small amount off each sale and gave the rest to charity, as a cancer survivor herself.
That was amazing to me, and it made me realize that we could all do this. Whether they are soda tab bracelets (have you seen these things? They are awesome!) or necklaces made from straws, authentic jewelry made by hand or something kids make, making jewelry and then sharing the profits for something bigger than ourselves is something we all could do in our lives. My own aunt just gave us a giant set of beads and other bracelet making tools, so we may just start our own business to raise money for charity at our house.
