Keeping It Simple

I am just returning to the jewelry design business after a few year break to renovate my old farm house.

Last I remember there was a sea of incredible talent, fabulous design and original work.

I think the slow economy is taking it's toll on designers. So many claim to offer original designs, but it is really looking like they are playing it safe. Trying to appeal to the masses in an impulse price point.

I too have been scaling things down a little and I really don't want to do this. My work as always been over the top fabulous and I feel a tad intimidated my the economic climate and the natural need to get things sold.

I am a single mother after all and I have to get the bills paid.

I really need some input and I struggle to get my footing.

I would like to ask you to visit my new shop at ArtFire and check out my jewelry section. I really need an honest opinion or two....I feel like I am holding back and I want to get my head in the right direction.

I am not sure ArtFire was the right selling venue for my work, I was going to open a shop and website on my own, but thought it might be best to tuck myself into a larger marketplace to start with.

I find myself questioning everything I do right now...please help!Gemstone NecklaceGemstone Necklace

Hi!  I think you have a great

Hi!  I think you have a great eye for colour and texture!  Artfire is a nice, easy entry level place for jewelers to showcase and sell their work, however prices on the site tend to be a little on the low side for jewelers.  If you want to earn a living from your work, or sell wholesale you should bump up your pricing a bit and test out these new prices on other selling platforms such as Etsy or your own website.

Keep us posted!  And keep designing :)

Being Betrayed from Online Shop GemstoneGarden.artfire.com

Hi Everybody,

I am posting this to warn people, to prevent experiencing the same like me.

Here´s the story in short.

I read about this online shop in jewelry report and I was quite curious to know what kind of things they have.

I was very much interested in her pendants, as they were very cheap and really beautiful according to the pictures shown on the shop site. So I decided to buy 8 pieces for my own shop. After waiting patiently for 20 days, at last I recieved my ordered things.

Out of the 8 pieces I ordered only 3 did correspond with the pictures I saw on her online shop. I am really dissapointed about being decieved like that.

This person has open up a another shop under the name Vicalla. So be careful if you are planning to buy things from her shops.

You also might experience the same.
