Celebrity Ditches Jewelry
Cheryl Cole, one of the UK's sweetheart celebrities is said to be giving away all jewelery given to her by her estranged husband, footballer Ashley Cole. The split came after the last of many indiscretions on his part, and the long suffering Cheryl seems to now at last be expressing her disgust not just for his behavior, but for his taste in jewelry as well, calling it too "bling" for her tastes. She has gifted some items to friends and relatives, while rumor has it that some of the uglier pieces have even ended up in the trash. Thumbs up for the gesture, thumbs down for the waste!

The Jewelers' Security Alliance recently released disturbing figures showing a significant increase in jewelry store break ins and value of theft during 2009. This was on top of already startling figures from 2008. The report also notes that the burglaries were carried out by more professional, experienced theives, rather than opportunistic amateurs looking for quick money.
