Part Two of our interview with Persephonie Studies owner, Cassandra Bazos.

Do you get more excited about the design or technical aspects of jewelry art?

To be honest I get really excited about both.  It’s great when I get a new idea, it just bugs me until I get a chance to put it on paper.  Then there’s the excitement of building a new piece just for the person who’s going to come a long and buy it and cherish it for a long time to come.  I love being an artist because it allows me to make people feel happy about what they wear and give as gifts to others.

Can you name another jewelry designer whose work you admire?

Right now I’m totally in love with Kim Drosdick’s work.  She has such clean lines in her work that it makes me a little jealous!  I love how simple her work looks but still gives across that message of “I might be a bit expensive, but I’m sooo worth it!”.  It inspires me to try and achieve that same mantra with my work

Do you find the process of experimentation frustrating or inspiring?

Experimentation can be both frustrating and inspiring at the same time.  On the one hand it can take a while to build something you love without planning in advance but on the other hand there’s that sense of joy and pride that you get when something beautiful that you don’t expect out of it.  It happens all the time.

Do you prefer doing retail or trade events?

I think it’s a matter of balancing the two.  Retail is great but most often than not unless you own the store you are not getting a chance to meet your end consumer.  But in the same hand if you only do tradeshows it’s up to you, only you, to sell your beautiful artistry to the general public which can be daunting even to the most seasoned professional.
