Part Two of our interview with the great Andrew Cooperman. We love his answer to our super power question!
Do you get more excited about the design or technical aspects of jewelry art?
When I am making something that is really working for me my heart literally beats faster. Maybe it’s a form, a surface or some particularly elegant twist. Maybe it’s some clever bit of thematic wit. Sometimes I get that feeling performing the simplest of technical tasks especially well.
Can you name another jewelry designer whose work you admire?
There are just too many….
Do you find the process of experimentation frustrating or inspiring?
When I can allow myself to play-- when I can suspend the possible consequence of guilt generated by not having something at the end of the day-- I find ittrans formative.
Do you prefer doing retail or trade events?
Again, this doesn’t really apply. But I do love to engage the client, collector or customer directly without the gallery in between.
If you could have any jewelry super-power to help you with your jewelry what would it be? (Perhaps flame throwing hands to fire your pieces quickly? Mind reading for your customers? Extra arms? :)
Self miniaturization. Or maybe the ability to go back in time 5 minutes and undo what I just did.
