It’s fall again…my favorite season.  One of the best parts about it is the gorgeous colors as the world gets ready to settle in for a long winter.  Beautiful reds, oranges and yellows complement the brown backdrop of earth, as if celebrating the end of a long summer.Jewelry can be a perfect reflection of this jubilance, if you choose colors that reflect the season.  I think jewelry is better suited to this task than other accessories, especially jewelry with gemstones.  Some of my personal favorite stones that truly reflect the colors of fall are Autumn Jasper, Carnelian and Citrine.  In fact, Autumn Jasper is so named because of its beautiful range of browns, reds and oranges.

When looking for jewelry suited to fall wear, make sure there are not so many colors in the piece that you cannot match it to your clothing.  It can be easy to fall in love with a piece and bring it home, only to find it won’t go with anything you have.  The exception to this is jewelry to wear with blue jeans – you can’t go wrong with color choices there!

If you are really in the mood to celebrate fall, you can even find necklaces made with real leaves that have been coated with a protective sealant.  Real maple leaves, oak leaves and others really do a great show of fall colors in all their splendor.

Just remember to choose jewelry that speaks to you, because buying a piece of jewelry is a personal investment and one that should have some feeling in it.
